Maxxed-out H3 Hummer car audio install

We were let loose to install the perfect car audio system into this Hummer H3, and we did not disappoint.

The details

We went all-in on this car audio installation, with top sounding products, LED lighting and a bucket full of elbow grease.

The Hummer was brought to us by a good customer of ours. He wanted audio perfection while still having usable storage space and no battery drain. It took some thrashing out.

To get the power and space we needed for bass we custom-made sub boxes with JL Audio thin-line 12″ subwoofer (12TW1-4) to wrest boot space and add the bottom end this beast deserves. The custom boxes angle around each other to avoid waveform cancellation in the centre of the cab, ensuring the boom hits the ear in the exact right way.

We decked it out with our go-to speakers, the Zeroflex 6.5” 2-way coaxial speakers (EFX602) and 6.75″ component speakers with silk dome tweeters (EFX65C), in factory locations, with the tweeters custom mounted on the a-frame.

All these woofers needed to be powered, substantially. So we installed two amplifiers; the incredible Audison 8 channel DSP amplifier (AP8.9 bit) and the Zapco monoblock class-D amplifier (ST-1000XM II). But that wasn’t all. We installed a 12v lithium battery charger with a monitor to keep the vehicle driving at peak performance.

The Kenwood 6.8″ car stereo with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (DMX9021S) brings the quality needed for this sound system. It delivers large data packets to the speakers and subs so you can hear every note, equalised perfectly with the help of the Audison DSP.

Now, this system can run all day at quite a vehicle-body-flexing sound level. So we sound deadened the roof and doors to direct the sound and keep the rattles at bay.

And to top it all off, we added customisable LED lights to the interior and exterior of the Hummer.

It’s a party on wheels.
