It was hard not to stare when this Chevy Camaro drove into JC Installs. With external modifications complete, the Camaro was ready for a new sound. While this was a modernised Chevy upgrade, it still deserved the respect we give all classic cars: hiding away new technology, minimal new holes, and keeping the classic vehicle look.
Two things matter in an installation: the right products and installation techniques. We talked to the owner about what they were after and assessed the current state. They had a subwoofer and amplifier that worked magic together. They just needed better enclosures to sound incredible as well. For this car, we didn’t go overboard on the products. We maxed out the installation.
Custom-mounted front speakers
This old girl had a lot of space in the front kick panels, allowing us to install custom-mounted speakers and leave the door cards in their original pristine state. We installed Rainbow Dreamline speakers with grills and vinyl to match the interior.
Custom-built rear tray
Old rear trays get a real beating over time. We embossed a new custom-made rear tray with the personalised license plate number to tidy it up and add flair.
Custom built-in stereo
Cars of this age fit single DIN stereos. We couldn’t look past the Kenwood KMM-BT408 dual Bluetooth car stereo. It’s easy to use and sounds great. This Camaro had space below the middle of the dashboard, leaving room for unsightly wires. So we built a mount that fit perfectly into that space, keeping the clean look with matching vinyl.
Custom boot installation
We rebuilt the customer’s subwoofer and amplifier enclosure to bring the boom and added a cover for their additional battery to keep it tidy and give them free space to use the boot.
The owners had to whisk the car away to a show, so expect to see an update on this car shortly.
